Plus Size Intimate Apparel GIfts That Won't Cramp Your Style or Squeeze Your Body

Image
Shopping for plus size intimate apparel gifts can be a bit of a pain. Sure there’s plenty of pretty lingerie and robes available in “core” sizes, but most of it doesn’t come in sizes suitable for larger figures. Part of the problem is that the patterns don’t easily upscale after a certain point. Plus, depending on the garment, a larger body can require stronger underwires, heavier mesh, and different fabrics in order to get enough support or to stretch in different directions (depending on body shape). The other challenge is producing garments that are proportioned correctly. A robe designed for an hourglass figure won’t fit someone who is more pear-shaped and carries weight in the hips. If you're apple-shaped, you need more fabric around the middle. And a chemise cut for someone with larger hips might pull too tight on top (and have too much material on the bottom)  for a women with a larger bust and narrower hips. Regardless of the challenges, being full figure shouldn’t mean th...

Comfortable Lounging and Sleeping Bras You Can Wear All Night or Weekend

Image
There are a number of reasons to want a comfy sleep or lounging bra.  If you're pregnant you may feel sore and want extra support while you sleep.  If you're nursing, a sleep bra can be useful to help keep leaks from getting all over your clothes. Or. you might want a leisure bra because you've had surgery and can't wear your usual bras until you heal. Then there's monthly bloating and tenderness. Your regular bras ride up, the clasps won't close, and you're just plain miserable. In all of those cases, you need some support, but comfort is your number one priority! Or maybe, it's just because it's the weekend or the evening, and you want coverage and stability without the hassle of a full-fledged bra. Note that wearing a bra at night while you sleep will not prevent sagging.  Gravity is gravity. If you want to stay cool and comfortable too, check the descriptions for cotton bras (including plus sizes). Pullover Sleep or Leisure Bras in Plus Sizes Jus...

Cotton Bras to Get You Through Hot Summers

Image
Cotton bras are not technically a fit issue, but finding one is a problem, especially if you have large breasts or are full-figured.  Most of the bras that are available are limited to smaller sizes or nursing bras.  It's extremely frustrating! This has been a particular gripe of mine for years.  I live in a place where summers are hot and sticky (we refer to the bad days as "3H" days: hazy, hot, and humid). Wearing a standard non-breathable bra under these conditions is torturous.   The new 3D and spacer bras do help (and are certainly better than their non-breathable cousins), but in my opinion, the very best option is cool, comfortable cotton. I've organized these by figure type, with options for larger women, bras with no underwire, front closure bras, and a few designed for women with sensitive skin.   I've also fit notes (of course).  Don't want to stray too far away from the primary focus of this blog!
