Posture Support Bras to Help Relieve Back and Shoulder Pain


The band of your bra should do most of the work supporting your breasts. However, if you have a large, heavy bust or have back pain from an accident or arthritis, that may not be enough. Posture support bras can help ease the strain, and reduce the stress on your back and shoulders.

These posture bras have wider backs (and straps) than standard bras, almost like the back of a tank top. This helps relieve the pressure on your chest and shoulders, redistributes the weight, and reduces the pain you feel from having a larger bust.

If you sit at a desk or stand most of the day, a posture bra can help you stand or sit straighter. On the other hand, if your job, or daily life requires a lot of heavy lifting (I'm thinking babies and toddlers here), a posture bra will also give you better support as you move around.

Posture support doesn’t have to mean blah. This bra comes in pretty colors! The cups are lined with cotton for more comfort and it’s wire-free. It is full coverage and cut full, so it’s best if you have a rounder shape.

 The wide, criss-crossing back supports you, improves your posture, and stops the band from riding up. It will also control back fat well.

Enell Lite Sports Bra

This is technically a sports bra, but it will give great support to your back too. It closes in the front, so it's easier to get on and off than some of the other options. And, as a bonus, you can wear it if you work out, so it ends up being multi-purpose.

There are no wires, and the straps are extra-wide so that will help with both comfort and support.


One thing though, if you're not familiar with Enell, their sizes are a bit idiosyncratic. They go from 00-8 (roughly small to 6X, covering bra sizes 32C-DD, 34C-DDD, 36C-DDD, 38C-DDD, 40C-DDD, 42D-DDD, 44D-DDD, 46D-DDD, 48D-DDD, 50D-DDD, and 52D-DD). Comes in white, pink, and black.






Elila Jacquard Softcup Bra


This bra is designed to give larger busted women great support and lift. There are no wires, just slings to hold you up and non-stretch fabric for better control. It's even pretty, with a jacquard print, and a choice of colors from beige to bright red.

The center panel is tall and narrow, so it's best if your breasts are close-set. This brand also has unique sizing. Go up a band and down two cup sizes to get the right fit.

Comes in white, mocha, beige, cobalt, red, lilac, and black. Sizes 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 50, and 52 F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, and N.

Leonisa Posture Corrector Bra

If you're not large busted, but your problem is heavy lifting or pain from an injury, this bra can help.

The back is wide (for better support).  That back will also help smooth out back fat.  As a bonus though, it has a lovely plunge front, so you can get a bit of cleavage and wear it under lower cut tops.

It is a bit tricky to put on (follow the instructions to put it on over your head and then clasp the hooks), so not good if you can't lift your arms.


Only comes in beige (unfortunately), sizes 34, 36, 38, and 40 B and C.





Exquisite Form Women's Front Close Cotton Posture Bra

The front of this bra has pretty eyelet lace along the top of the cups.  The high back of this bra has powernet and criss-crossing bands for great support and back pain relief.

Note the cups are cotton (which will help keep you cool), but the back and sides have synthetic material. Since the bra closes in front, you won’t have as much leeway adjusting the hooks. so order a band size larger if you are in-between sizes.

It says you can machine wash it, but I wouldn’t. Hand wash and dry flat. It will last longer!

Carnival Posture Support Bra

The powernet in the back of this bra will help relieve back strain and help you stand up straighter. It's tall in the back (that's where the support is), but has a racerback, so it won't show under sleeveless summer tops.

There seem to be some misunderstandings about bra fit by some of the reviewers. The bra band measurement when laid flat does not equal the band size of the bra. It will be shorter, because the material stretches to fit around you snugly.

That said, since it is a posture bra, it will have less "give" than a standard bra will. It also may feel a bit stiff when you first wear it.

It closes in front (which makes it easy to put on), and has lace over the tops of the cups.
Comes in white, champagne, and black and sizes 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, and 44 B, C, D, and DD.

Bras with Fully Adjustable or Short Straps for Petite and Shorter Women

If you have a short upper body, you'll need a bra with short straps.  The trouble with most standard bras is that the straps are too long for you.  Not only will that make it hard to adjust them properly, it also means the straps are likely to slide off your shoulders. Comfortable Lounging and Sleeping Bras You Can Wear All Night or Weekend

There are a number of reasons to want a comfy sleep or lounging bra.  If you're pregnant you may feel sore and want extra support while you sleep.  If you're nursing, a sleep bra can be useful to help keep leaks from getting all over your clothes.
